A three day workshop on climate journalism was held during 20-23 October 2018 in Skopje for 13 people from local NGOs and the media. The workshop was delivered by CNVP Macedonia, the Ecologists’ Movement of Macedonia (DEM), and the Centre for Environmental Research and Information (Eko-svest).

Training sessions covered the basics of climate change, as well as observed impacts and possible solutions to mitigate/adapt to ongoing climate change.

Key messages were discussed from the recent report by the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on the impacts of global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels, and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways, in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development, and efforts to eradicate poverty; see http://www.ipcc.ch/report/sr15/.

The participants also received training on how to write Press Releases, News and Blogs on topics related to climate change. Advice was given concerning online tools and exercises to increase the chance of an article being published in the media.

The event was held within the framework of the 36 month EU-funded project Communities Communicating Climate Change that is being implemented by CNVP Macedonia, DEM and Eko-svest.
