CNVP Kosovo cooperated with the Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development to organise a joint workshop on current forestry legal framework conditions in Kosovo. The workshop took place on 21 and 22 March 2019 in Durres.

Participants exchanged information on the process of joint forest management and the use of silvicultural models for degraded forests, as well as the simplification of procedures for the treatment of privately owned forests.

In addition, representatives of the Forestry Department and NAPFO discussed issues related to fast growing trees, the chestnut value chain, and biomass production for use in renewable energy.

Participants agreed to continue consulting with NAPFO to draft policies, legal acts and by-laws in the forestry sector, focusing on joint forest management and the development of private forests.

The activity was supported by the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralised Forests that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
