CNVP’s Executive Director attended the 2019 Symposium RMT-AFORCE (réseau mixte technologique-l'adaptation des forêts au changement climatique) during 2-3 April in Montpellier, France.

The event addressed the issue of forests and climate change: providing support to adaptation.

For the past 10 years, scientists, technical advisors, teachers and trainers, as well as public and private forest managers have been gathering within the AFORCE RMT network to share their knowledge, and transform it into operational, decision making tools (http://www.reseau-aforce.fr).

Attended by more than 200 people, the symposium focused on four sessions:

  1. The state of the mobilization of foresters in order to face climate change;
  2. Improving the choice of species in the context of climate change;
  3. Which silvicultural practices to adopt, in order to adapt forests to climate change; and
  4. Taking into account the risks associated with climate change.
