CNVP Albania is introducing “Contract Farming” as a powerful tool for mutually beneficial relations between businesses and farmers dealing with MAPs, through Sida funded LED project. MAP businesses depend on farmers to secure the required quality and quantity of products whereas farmers depend on businesses to sell their product for a fair price.

Contract farming involves an agreement between the producer and the buyer on terms and conditions for the production and marketing of MAPs products, usually, including the price to be paid, quantity and quality demanded delivery dates, and sometimes detailed information on inputs and production methods.

The first training on contract farming is organized on 11 October 2019 in Petrela Administrative Unit with MEIA Company representatives and farmers who cultivate MAPs in their land areas. About 15 farmers who will be supported with laurels and lavender seedlings attended the training, had the opportunity to discuss in detail all the elements that a contract farming document contains as well as were able to clarify ways of collaboration with MEIA Company and CNVP Foundation.

This training was organized in the framework of Sida funded LED project being implemented in Tirana, Korca, Shkoder and Elbasan regions.
