Kick-off for “Civil Society Action for Climate” project

CNVP is starting with the implementation of a new project “Civil Society Action for Climate” in partnership with the Center for environmental research and information Eko-svest, Skopje as a lead partner, and Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA), the project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

In this regard today on the 9th of March 2022 a kick-off meeting was held in the Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton, Skopje.

At the Kick-off meeting welcome speech ware held by H.E. Ms. Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson the Ambassador of the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje and the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Mr. Naser Nuredini. 

At the event were present representatives from the Ministry of agriculture forestry and water management, Mayors, and CSOs that are working in the field of environment and climate change.

 The general objective of the project is a strong and vibrant civil society that plays a meaningful role in the process of decarbonization, transformation, and renewal of the society, resulting in a clean environment, green economies, and healthy citizens in North Macedonia.

Actions will be taken to reach the two specific objectives:

1.   Strengthen and empower the civil society to take part in climate-related decision-making and take local action through improving their capacities, knowledge, and skills and providing the necessary resources for this work.

2.   Increase public awareness about the possibilities for low carbon economies and green transformation and build public pressure on institutions to ensure these developments through policy and program changes.

The project expected results are:

Result 1: Strengthened capacities of civil society organization

Result 2: Ensured participation of CSOs in policy change

Result 3: Support to CSO organization for climate actions

Result 4: Improved visibility, communication, and advocacy of CSOs

Result 5: Increased credibility of CSOs and mobilization of citizens for climate action

The project will be implemented until June 2024.
