Climate change and ways to improve biodiversity and address potential negative consequences from climate change was the topic of the training organized by CNVP in Lipjan, as part of the SUNREED project funded by Sweden.

Members of the Association of Private Forest Owners (APFO) in Lipjan  and municipal officers from the relevant departments and had the opportunity to learn more on climate change adaption at the local level and biodiversity. Participants discussed on the importance of biodiversity and in the groups identified needs and ways to address challenges associated with climate changes.

CNVP will organize a series of training workshops in municipalities to build the capacities of APFOs to contribute in improvement of biodiversity and climate change adaptation. It is expected that APFOs will continue discussion meetings at village level to raise awareness on the benefits of natural resource management, biodiversity and ecosystem services.

In collaboration with APFOs, CNVP through the SUNREED project will support PFOs in improving forest management and developing a market for forest products. Special attention will be given to the selection of species that are important for biodiversity and land management to respond to the potential negative effects of climate change. The current activities are continuation of the work that has been done by CNVP with APFOs and NAPFO with the previous project funded by Sweden “Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry in Kosovo”.
