The results of gender analysis were presented in a roundtable organized in Pristina, which brought together key stakeholders, including representatives of the Agency for Gender Equality, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Ministry of Environment Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, NAPFO and APFOs, Women and Youth Producers Groups (WYPG) and civil society representatives.

The gender study analysis will serve as an internal guiding document to mainstream gender into the project’s objectives and methodological approach by ensuring that both men and women benefit from project activities. The gender study analysis provides an overview of circumstances regarding the gender equality in the APFOs/NAPFOs and other beneficiaries in the 23 municipalities, based on Principles & Elements of Gender Analysis (Sida Gender Toolbox).

To ensure women and youth economic empowerment and equal rights, it is recommended that the SUNREED addresses its efforts into three directions:

  • capacity building, through awareness, training courses, and information exchange
  • promotion of rights in decision-making, guaranteeing the achievement of gender equality
  • in-kind support based on the MSD findings

New approaches were discussed as based in the study under the SUNREED project,  such as Integration of Economic, Social, and Environmental aspects; Women rural networking, agribusiness incubators as well market system development integrating opportunities for women and youth.

Regarding women rural networking, participants of the event had an opportunity to hear from the experiences of rural women network in Bavaria in Germany that is functioning within the Bavarian Farmers Associations as well as experiences and cooperation of rural women in Hungary from the Union of Women in Hungary.

All participants  of the round table expressed an interest to follow the recommendations presented and to contribute to networking of rural women platform.
