Biodiversity Day 2023 is celebrated by CNVP Kosovo by bringing together private forest owners and APFO-s from Drenas, Lipjan, Fushe Kosova and Shtime Municipalities, NAPFO, stakeholders and experts to address the issue of climate change adaptation and mitigation within the forest and biodiversity sector.

The activity was combined with a training on "Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change in the Forest and Biodiversity Sector - Practices and Instruments," aiming to raise awareness and equip participants with effective practices and tools to address the challenges caused by climate change.

Innovative approaches and best practices to tackle the adverse impacts of climate change on forests and biodiversity were introduced. Through interactive discussions and presentations participants gained knowledge on how adaptation and mitigation strategies can be integrated into their forest management practices.

The training session concluded with a commitment from the participants to prioritize climate change adaptation and mitigation within their forest management strategies while the experts highlighted the importance of collaboration among private forest owners, stakeholders and policymakers to implement sustainable practices that supports biodiversity conservation efforts.

This activity was very significant for marking the Biodiversity Day by further highlighting the emergency of preserving and protecting the natural ecosystems and paves the way for a more sustainable connection between people and nature.

The activity is supported by the project Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development (SUNREED) funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Kosovo and being implemented by CNVP Kosovo
