CNVP Kosovo and the National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO) has been working with its 23 local associations to increase their membership, strengthen representation at regional and national level, involve women in forestry activities, and improve service delivery to members.

Linked to this, CNVP organized a workshop during 26-28 April 2018 in Durres, Albania to: review achievements to date; identify ongoing challenges; plan for the sustainable activities of NAPFO, as well as the APFOs and their 10 women’s sections; share experiences; and improve the functioning of service delivery, promotion and visibility.

During the workshop, CNVP advisors and experts discussed sustainable forestry management, strengthening the role of women in the associations and producer groups, membership and advocacy.

Workshop participants addressed various issues, including: the role of associations in service delivery; joint forest management; membership fees; women’s representation on the boards of APFOs and NAPFO; women’s economic empowerment; advocacy; and preparation of project proposals.

An important outcome of the workshop was NAPFO’s Durres Agenda 2018 (with priorities for the following year) which was approved by the presidents of the 23 APFOs.

The activity was supported through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralised Forests that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
