World Environment Day (WED) is used to raise awareness about the environment and its effects on the daily life of people.

The WED theme for 2018 is Beat Plastic Pollution. Governments, industry, communities and individuals are urged to reduce the production and consumption of single-use plastics that pollute oceans, damage marine life, and threaten human health. The identification and use of financially sustainable alternatives is critical.

Since it began in 1972, WED has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

CNVP is a leading international civil society organisation that is active in all six Balkan countries. It uses evidence-based analysis to improve the sustainable livelihoods of rural communities within the ongoing process of environmental pollution and climate change.

CNVP’s six key areas of interest cover: sustainable forest management; climate change, environment, bio-diversity and balanced natural resource management; agri-rural development, including agriculture, forestry and wood energy value chains; renewable energy and waste management, including plastics; community mobilization; and policy issues related to EU accession.
