CNVP Albania organized a regional event in Zerqan, Diber Municipality to celebrate World Environment Day on 5 June 2018. The topic addressed was Introducing and sharing experiences on good forest management techniques among different regions of Albania. The event was attended by representatives of Municipalities, Administrative Units, Forest and Pasture Users’ Associations, Regional Federations and the National Federation.

Experiences from different regions of Albania were discussed, including those from Has municipality and other parts of Albania (as well as Kosovo). The latest EuroCoppice policy paper on innovative management and multi-functional use of traditional coppice forests was also discussed.

The event included two field visits and an exchange of opinions concerning: (a) a plot where the Forest and Pasture User Association of Zerqan had made improvements; and (b) a wood biomass model that provides firewood annually by clear cutting around 1,000 m2 and returning once there has been full regeneration. (This model was established in 2017 by CNVP advisors and two Core Group members in close collaboration with Bulqiza Municipality and Diber Forestry Inspectorate.)

Local and national media broadcast the event on Bulqiza TV and TOP MEDIA.

The event was supported through the Forest for Local Economic Development project that is financed by the Swedish Embassy and implemented by CNVP Albania.
