On 13 June 2018, the National Federation held a workshop with CNVP and Korca Regional Federation on improvement of knowledge and practices for forest management in the municipality. The Mayor of Erseka municipality, the deputy mayors of Korca and Pogradec municipalities and the directors of the municipal forest service of South-East Albania participated in the workshop, along with representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the University (Faculty of Forest Sciences).

The event included a field visit to Peshkepi village where CNVP is developing a family forest model. There, the previously degraded forest has now been rehabilitated so that it supplies family needs for firewood and non-timber forest products. Participants shared their ideas and experiences, discussed opportunities on how to improve support for forest users, and reviewed how to replicate the model in other parts of Albania. Participants learnt about the rights of family forest users, as well as their problems and obstacles. They also discussed the need for improved forest policies and legislation to be included in the new forest law that CNVP is helping to draft.

The activity was funded by the International Land Coalition (ILC) and the Forests for Local Economic Development project that is funded by the Embassy of Sweden and implemented by CNVP.
