On 12 September 2018, CNVP Kosovo organized training for 15 women farmers dealing with bee breeding in the women’s producer group that is attached to Peje’s local Association of Private Forest Owners.

The training provided advice on feeding bees, diseases of bees, protection, and breeding methods. The training also incuded a field visit to demonstrate best practice for bee hives. The women’s special interest was in the displacement of bees from flowers, chestnuts and fruit, as well as how to process food for winter, but not lose productivity. This first training on value chain development for honey focused on how to expand production so as to increase family income in rural areas.

The activity was organized through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry project being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
