On 26 September 2018, CNVP Kukes collaborated with Hasi Municipality and local farmers to organise an Autumn Fair of traditional, local products. Some 30 farmers brought products from their villages ranging from crops to livestock, as well as wild herbs and mountain tea. Visitors from Gjakovo, Kosovo and Malzi Administrative Unit also presented their products. Many local traders, citizens, local authorities and environmental associations operating in Hasi visited the fair. The Zahire shop in Tirana, which sells local products from all over the country, participated and expects to enter into agreements with Hasi farmers to buy different products.

Many visitors to the fair were not aware of the variety of products produced in Hasi’s villages, especially the forest frutis of aronia, rasberry and blackberry which have been planted in a sample plot in Golaj village. They were happy to make contact with producers to buy their organic and bio products directly. Although they do not yet have bio/organic certificates, farmers tend not to use harmful pesticides and insecticides or dangerous hormones, preferring to use traditional methods to grow their products.

The activity was attended and broadcast by the local media, and was organised through the Sida-funded project Forests for Local Economic Development being implemented by CNVP Albania.
