As Parker Chung wraps up his internship with CNVP Kosovo in Prishtina, we would like to thank him for the enthusiasm, knowledge, and fresh perspective he brought to our team over the past two months.
A third-year Environmental Engineering student at Arizona State University, Parker joined CNVP Kosovo with a passion for conservation and an interest in protected area management. During his internship, he played an active role in CNVP’s assessment of the implementation of the Management Plan for Bjeshkรซt e Nemuna National Park (2024โ2033), working alongside our team and experts to review its implementation, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for strengthening the park’s long-term management.
His work included field visits, meetings with key stakeholders, supporting the development of questionnaires, reviewing Kosovo’s legal framework, and contributing to the analysis of the park’s current management system.
Reflecting on his experience, Parker shared:
“These two months have been really rewarding. I gained amazing experience in the environmental field and had the chance to contribute to meaningful conservation work, which was my goal from the very beginning. It was great to exchange ideas on land management and bring examples from the U.S. that could help support the preservation of Bjeshkรซt e Nemuna National Park.”
Beyond the professional experience, Kosovo also left a lasting impression on him:
“What surprised me most was the people. I knew I would be welcomed, but everyone exceeded my expectations with their openness, kindness, and hospitality. I also loved being part of such close-knit communities. Kosovo has a unique history, a fascinating culture, and a beautiful natural environment that is truly worth protecting.”
