Yesterday, CNVP Kosovo in cooperation with the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA), organised a Technical and Institutional Meeting on the Legal, Institutional and Spatial Planning Aspects of National Park Management in Kosovo, in Prishtina. The meeting was held within the framework of the project
The event brought together institutional representatives and national and international experts to exchange experiences, discuss existing challenges and identify opportunities to strengthen the sustainable management of Kosovoโs National Parks.
Discussions focused on four key areas:
- National Park management in Kosovo โ challenges, gaps and limitations in implementing the Management Plan for Bjeshkรซt e Nemuna National Park.
- International experience and good practices โ lessons from national park management in Germany, including 30 years of natural dynamics and bark beetle impacts in Harz National Park.
- Strengthening the policy framework โ the development of the Concept Document for Bjeshkรซt e Nemuna and Sharri National Parks, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, key challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Spatial planning and protected areas โ international experience and good practices in addressing illegal construction and strengthening spatial planning in protected areas.
Through dialogue and knowledge exchange, the meeting aimed to encourage stronger inter-institutional cooperation, identify practical solutions and support more effective management of Kosovoโs National Parks.
Protecting nature requires more than policies and plans. It takes coordinated institutions, planning and a shared commitment to preserving our natural heritage for future generations.
