Training on revitalization and protection of chestnut forests in Kosovo
On 8 October 2018, CNVP Kosovo organized training in Junik municipality on revitalization and protection of chestnut forests. Participants included private owners of chestnut forests and representatives from municipalities from western Kosovo. Training was delivered by a local consultant familiar with the chestnut value chain.
The main focus of the training was on the current condition of chestnut forests, and the opportunities that exist for their revitalization to overcome the disease that is causing damage to the trees. A field visit to three cadastral zones was used to explain how to fight the disease, and demonstrate practical examples of how to protect chestnut forests so they can continue to contribute to economic development through increased income generation.
The event was funded through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
