The National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO) held elections in December 2018 to establish its leadership. This includes eleven members of which four are women.

On 15 May 2019, a consultation meeting was held with the NAPFO leadership at CNVP Kosovo’s office related to results, tasks and actions for 2019. NAPFO’s priorities are based on its strategy until 2020 which is to increase the contribution of the private forestry sector in rural development and the national economy through sustainable use of forest resources, at the same time as taking into account the multi-functional role of forests. The meeting discussed coordination of implementation of NAPFO activities in 2019, supported by CNVP Kosovo.

NAPFOs strategic objectives are of the NAPFO leadership to:

  1. increase further membership and improve mechanisms for fee collection;
  2. establish new associations and extend geographic coverage;
  3. provide services that focus on economic development, awareness raising, providing information for association members, including and women and youth producer groups;
  4. expand the gender aspects of decision-making processes, particularly linked to further development of NTFP value chains;
  5. update and implement NAPFO’s “Agenda 2019”;
  6. improve networking, relationships and partnerships with other actors; and
  7. hold further elections in local associations.
