CNVP supports the development of beekeeping in Kosovo
CNVP Kosovo is supporting the development of value chains for non-timber forest products (NTFPs). It is working closely with women and youth producer groups within private forest owner associations, providing capacity building to improve product quality, increase production, and improve business relationships with agro-processing companies.
As an example, the honey value chain is a source of additional income for many rural families in Kosovo. Further, beekeeping contributes to women’s economic empowerment, social well-being, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.
Honey producer groups in Peja region, for example, have developed their management and technical capacities, as well as increased membership within their association. 20 bee hives and working tools have been provided to honey producers in the region.
This activity has been supported through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry (SSPDF) that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
