International Day of Rural Women in Kosovo
This year, CNVP in coordination with the Agency on Gender Equality within the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Rural Development, as well as with Women and Youth Producer Groups that are functioning within the Local Associations of Private Forest Owners celebrated the International Day of Rural Women (October 15th).
On this occasion, apart from the 11 Women Producer Groups that were present, other participants in the event included: representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Rural Development, municipalities, Hungarian Embassy in Prishtina, representatives of National Associations of Private Forest Owners, Federation of Communal Forest ad Pastures of Albania, CNVP of Albania, local and international organization such as Women for Women, USAID, GIZ, Swiss Contact and local NTFP companies Agro product and Fidanex.
Women and Youth Producer Groups and Women organization “Grate e Krushes” presented their successful stories by drawing attention to the implementation of commitments to gender equality and promoted some of their agricultural and non-timber forest products.
Joint statement was drafted and addressed to the governmental institutions and international community to work with rural women and youth for adding value to non-timber forest products (NTFP) and medicinal aromatic plants (MAPs) and to invest in the sustainable infrastructure, services whereby such sectors can absorb a significant number of employees and offer substantial opportunities for rural women.
The journey continued with the joint field visit to the collection point of medicinal aromatic plants managed by successful woman leading Women Producer Group in Kacanik
The activity was implemented within the framework of SSPDF, Sida project.
