On October 28, CNVP Kosovo supported the organization of the Event “Chestnut Day” in cooperation with the Municipality of Junik. The event was attended by officials from local, national and international institutions, various associations, civil society, KFOR, etc. Such an event has become a tradition in the municipality of Junik aiming the promotion of natural values especially the value chain of NTFP in the west region of Kosovo. The Mayor's speech emphasized the interest of the community for better management of chestnut forests where jointly with CNVP through the SSPDF project has implemented activities towards the development of the chestnut value chain. The Woman and Youth Producer Groups added value of this event with their local products such: Honey, chestnut seedlings, chestnut sweets, handicrafts, etc. The participants were encouraged to contribute more on the role of chestnut and other non-wood products from forest in generating income for the local community because this region has great potentials

All participants had the opportunity to enjoy the traditional dancing and roasting chestnuts in nature. 

The activity was organized through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
