Third capacity building training on forest management planning, monitoring, and silviculture
CNVP Kosovo has continued with the implementation of package trainings, providing capacity development measure on forest inventory, drafting of forest management plans, and the use of tools and methodology on data collection.
On 09 October 2020, CNVP held the third capacity building training on forest management planning, monitoring, and silviculture in the Peja region.
Having in consideration of safety measures due to the pandemic situation, the training was organized in the field, with the group of forestry engineers and technicians from the Kosovo Forest Agency (KFA) regional office in Peja and Municipalities.
Participants had the opportunity to learn theoretical and practical aspects of how the long term management plan is drafted, joint forest management practices, drafting of the annual plan and operational plan as well. Practically was demonstrated how to handle with the modern tools for forest measurement and inventory, data processing, management unit bordering, and compartment division criteria.
The importance of silvicultural activities on sustainable management planning was discussed, as well as stand structure, tree and crown position within the stand, thinning methods, and criteria for different forest types.
This activity was supported by the Sweden International Development Agency (SIDA)-funded project being implemented by CNVP Kosovo - Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry.
