On 27 January 2022, CNVP Executive Board Member Mr. Xhevat Lushi together with a CNVP Kosovo team had a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Gjakova, Mr. Ardian Gjini. 
The meeting was focused on the introduction of the new project objectives of the project “Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development” funded by the Sida/Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina.
The main objectives are focusing on: 

• Developing a market system for wood biomass (wood chips) to provide proper forest management and income generation; 
• Increase incomes from sustainably managed private forests with attention to climate change adaption and biodiversity; 
• Market system Development approach which will involve partnering with a range of actors. 

During the meeting, it was also discussed for Gjakova heating plant which was constructed with EU fundings and started operating during 2020. It was emphasized that by the promotion of decentralized heating systems based on wood biomass at the municipality level, the project has the potential to contribute to achieving the 2030 EU climate and Energy Framework target. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed for close cooperation in all related activities of the project to achieve very fruitful results in terms of sustainable use of natural resources and creating a better and healthier environment.
