CNVP Albania has put Gender Mainstreaming and Women Economic Empowerment at the heart of its projects.

On 6 and 7 March 2023 a national gender event was organised in Berat, on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the framework of the Sida funded -LED project. About 60 partners and stakeholders from 8 municipalities in Albania, representing local government, businesses and MAPs producers, mainly women were part of an eventful two days. Two Swedish Embassy Programme officers were special guests during the event.

The Interactive workshop and quizzes covering gender roles, practical and strategic gender needs and women economic and social empowerment were a great opportunity to gain new knowledge, share best practices, create new networks and celebrate the achievements of women partners from all over Albania.

A unique experience for the group was showing “Hive”, a three-award winning movie which features the story of determination and struggle of one woman in Kosovo who has the ambition to empower herself and other women against a hostile community and patriarchal society.

The touching story of this woman resembles the lives of all women fighting against the patriarchal society and gender stereotypes which generated lots of discussions and reflections in the group and helps in raising awareness and breaking the bias.

CNVP Albania will continue its efforts to support women and girls countrywide to unclock their potentials and create an enabling environment  for their sustainable development!
