CNVP Kosovo marked International Day of Forests with students and APFO in Lipjan
A group of primary school students have planted trees in a “miniature forest” placed at "Ismail Luma” school, to mark the International Day of Forests, in an awareness raising event organized by CNVP Kosovo and the Association of Private Forest Owners (APFO) of Lipjan.
By planting different saplings, they have learned more about forests, their role in the ecosystem and how people should take care of these natural resources. This mini-forest will remain inside the school giving students the opportunity to see it grow and promote human care for forests.
Students also presented the importance of forests through creative artistic work and presentations on the importance of forests for human health and wellbeing, as the theme of the International Day of Forests this year is “Forests and Health”.
CNVP Kosovo is currently implementing the project “Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development” funded by the Embassy of Sweden/Sida, which aims to contribute to poverty reduction through additional income and jobs derived from forest products such as wood biomass, Noon Wood Forest Products (NWFPs) including Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) and carbon market. Today’s activity with students and Association of Private Forest Owners of Lipjan was organized as part of this project.
