Transboundary LAG Meeting in Sharri Region Highlights Collaborative Efforts for Development
With a focus on sustainable development, in order to explore their potential for mutually beneficial partnerships between the farming and tourism sectors, the Transboundary Local Action Group (LAG) meeting is currently happening in the picturesque Sharri region in Kosovo. The gathering brings together representatives of LAGs, from Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania to discuss key findings from a comprehensive questionnaire and showcase good examples of successful initiatives.
This two-days meeting 13-14 June will center the discussions around sustainable agricultural practices, responsible tourism initiatives, and the preservation of the region's natural and cultural heritage.
The meetings focused on presenting questionnaire results and utilizing SWOT analysis to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities in the farming and tourism sectors in the Sharri region. These findings shaped subsequent discussions and collaborative actions, while inspiring cross-border cooperation. Strategies were developed to enhance stakeholder participation and improve future data collection. The meeting underscored the potential for successful partnerships and emphasized a commitment to sustainable development also illustrating the potential for cross-border collaboration.
The meeting was followed by sharing experiences and best practices from each of LAGs while participants are fostering cooperation and joint problem-solving starting from structuring and of course for cross-border collaboration by actively working towards a more resilient and prosperous future for the region.
As the meeting progresses, the participants will be engaging in strategic discussions to develop a comprehensive cross-border communication and cooperation action plan. By aligning their efforts and resources, the LAGs intend to create a framework that fosters effective collaboration and maximizes the positive impact of their joint initiatives. The ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable growth and development that respects the region's natural resources and cultural heritage.
The activity described is being implemented within the framework of the "Sustainable Future for Sharr-Korab-Koritnik" project. This project, funded by the German DBU (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt), is a collaborative effort involving Euronatur, PPNE, MES, and CNVP. Together, they aim to achieve a sustainable future for the Sharr-Korab-Koritnik region by promoting environmental conservation and implementing sustainable practices.
