Consultative meeting on METT analyses for Korab Koritnik Protected Area

CNVP Albania participated in the consultative meeting on METT analyses for Korab Koritnik Protected Area together with the Albanian NAPA, Kukes and Diber RAPA and other NGOs, in Diber, Albania on 27 September 2023.

METT analysis, developed by IUCN, is a rapid assessment based on a scorecard questionnaire. The scorecard includes all six elements of management identified in the IUCN-WCPA. Framework (context, planning, inputs, process, outputs and outcomes), but has an emphasis on context, planning, inputs and processes. It is basic and simple to use, and provides a mechanism for monitoring progress towards more effective management over time. It is used to enable park managers and donors to identify needs, constraints and priority actions to improve the effectiveness of protected area management.

CNVP Albania is implementing a PONT-funded project "Sustainable use of natural resources for transboundary socio-economic development of protected areas" in partnership with NAPA and RAPAs in Kukes, Diber and Shkoder. The aim of this project is Promoting sustainable use of the natural resources, through provision and support to local communities for creating a better socio-economic life in harmony with nature through:

• Sustainable Use of MAPs/NTFPs in Protected Areas
• Nature based tourism
• Enabling governance mechanisms

Participation in similar analyses and coordination meetings with all stakeholders operating in the Protected Areas is essential for better planning, nature conservation, creating synergies and improving livelihoods of people living in Protected Areas.
