Field Visit with EU Office Representatives
We were pleased to host representatives who are spearheading the Green Agenda and Territorial Development at the European Office in Kosovo for an insightful field day, offering a firsthand look at CNVP Kosovo's efforts in advancing sustainable forestry initiatives in Kosovo.
Our day commenced with a visit to a private forest in Kamenica, witnessing the tangible outcomes of our partner (private forest owner) who is part of the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development (SUNREED) project, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina/The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
We discussed forest management plans that the project has tailored for private forest owners in Kamenica, with a focus on supporting the implementation of crucial silvicultural activities, all guided by these plans' recommendations. The production of biomass, notably wood chips, is a direct result of our forest thinning endeavors.
Additionally, we journeyed to the new biomass collection point that is currently being established in Vitia, and is a crucial component of SUNREED's partnership agreement implementation. The owner of Dardani company, who is working to set up this crucial collection point, emphasized the significance of biomass as the future. It is important to organize the process for forest owners across Kosovo to sort and deliver their forest residues to a center which will process it into wood chips, to be utilized for heating systems and pellet production. CNVP together with its partners is at the forefront of initiation of sustainable biomass supply for heating systems, promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration in fostering sustainable forestry practices in Kosovo with our partners.
