Annual review meeting for CNVP Kosovo's SUNREED project
Yesterday, we had an insightful field visit with representatives from the Swedish Embassy in Prishtina to explore some of the impactful activities of the CNVP Kosovo project Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development (SUNREED). The visit was part of the annual review meeting for the SUNREED project, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina (SIDA).
Starting our journey, we visited Agroshqiponja in the village of Terpeze, Malisheve, a company specializing in the collection and cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs). Based on the sector needs for quality input, the partnership embraced nursery modernization to enhance organic production, improve seedling quality, boost competitiveness and reduce costs. The initiative besides changes on quality of organic seedling production, resulted on farmer networking, economic growth and product export.
In the village of Isniq, located in the municipality of Decan, we visited a fast-growing tree plantation in collaboration with the wood processing company Albi Trans. This partnership not only secures a steady wood supply but also promotes sustainable land management practices, benefiting local economies and biodiversity.
Our final stop was at the poplar nursery, Fidanishtja, in Dobrushe of Istog municipality, who is a producer of high-quality planting materials. This initiative of producing seedlings and cuttings supports economic growth by creating new job opportunities in the area, while also contributing to environmental sustainability.
It was inspiring to see firsthand how these partnerships are making a difference in Kosovo's forestry sector.
