New Initiative Enhances Chestnut Value Chain and Market Connections
CNVP Kosovo is pleased to announce a new partnership with a family-owned business specializing in the cultivation, collection, production, and processing of forest fruits, nuts, chestnuts, and hazelnuts.
As part of this partnership, company n.p.t. Freskia will establish a chestnut collection point, which will serve as a key hub for connecting household sub-collectors in the region.
This partnership not only focuses on developing the chestnut value chain but also supports a woman business owner who will play an active role in the project by intervening in the treatment of chestnut forests. Her involvement in sustainable forest management will help improve the quality and productivity of chestnut forests, contributing significantly to the overall success of the value chain.
By directly engaging local producers and sub-collectors, this bottom-up approach aims to create a strong market system that benefits the entire community. The initiative enhances market opportunities, increases the income of farmers, and promotes environmentally responsible practices, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on the chestnut sector.
This initiative is part of the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development (SUNREED) project, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina (Sida), and implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
