The Kosovo National Land Coalition Kicks Off Workshops With Women
Promoting inclusive decision-making processes and women empowerment is an important objective of the International Land Coalition (ILC). As a new member and focal point of the Kosovar National Land Coalition, CNVP Kosovo has begun a series of interactive workshops with members of the main women’s groups in the Kosovo region, to discuss land rights for women and climate change.
We explored the priorities outlined in the ILC Gender Action Plan Assessment, with financial support to gender transformative activities as the main priority, followed by trainings, leadership development and advocacy initiatives.
These discussions lead to more conversations on how to secure more financial support from the government and other institutions, initiate connections at national and regional levels, and identify trainings and new opportunities for women.
Climate change is another critical issue that the Ministry of Environment in Kosovo is actively addressing. We talked about the priorities for tackling climate change based on the ILC’s three pillar-approac: 1) land tenure rights for protecting biodiversity and reversing land degradation; 2) land tenure rights as a climate solution; and 3) land tenure rights for sustainable food systems.
The National Land Coalition in Kosovo aims to implement activities that address these challenges and empower women in decision-making process.
