CNVP Albania Hosts Swedish Deputy Ambassador in Malesia e Madhe to demonstrate Rural Development Initiatives
On October 31, CNVP Albania had the honor of hosting Mr. Eric Illes, the Swedish Deputy Ambassador and Head of Development Cooperation, together with the Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) team, on a visit to Malesia e Madhe. The purpose of the visit was to witness the transformative impact of the Local Economic Development (LED) project on rural businesses and communities.
The LED project has been instrumental in supporting Albania’s medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) sector, introducing innovations and solutions aimed at strengthening local economies and enhancing business resilience. During the visit, Mr. Illes and the team met with some of the main LED project partners such as Mucaj company. LNL Herbs, Salvia Nord nursery and Reci cooperative explored key project initiatives, including:
- Innovative Drying Chambers for retaining MAPs high quality, reducing time and costs.
- Pellet Production using MAP residues to minimize waste and boost sustainability
- Contract Farming Models to secure income for farmers
- High-Quality Seedlings Production to ensure a better yield and reduce pressure from the wild MAPs
- Improved Mechanization for greater efficiency in cultivation and harvesting
- MAPs Genetic Garden to introduce MAPs that grow best in the area, preserve and enhance Albania's biodiversity
- Business-Driven Extension Services to support farmer education and business growth
These initiatives are not only creating income opportunities but also fostering sustainable economic growth in Albania’s rural areas. The visit was a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in bringing about meaningful changes that benefit local communities.
