Two-Day Workshop on Promoting Wood Biomass for Renewable Energy
CNVP Kosovo is hosting a two-day workshop focused on promoting wood biomass as a sustainable, renewable energy source that benefits both the environment and rural communities.
Today and tomorrow, we are exploring best practices that not only improve forest health and reduce the risk of wildfires but also lower CO2 emissions and create income opportunities for rural areas.
The aim? To establish a strong cooperation mechanism between municipal working groups and discuss concrete actions for a more sustainable and effective biomass supply chain.
We’re joined by representatives from the National Association of Private Forest Owners, Associations of Private Owners, municipal leaders, and the Kosovo Forest Agency. We are exploring a private forest in Kamenica municipality, where CNVP Kosovo is implementing silvicultural treatments as outlined in the forest’s management plan. It's inspiring to see these sustainable practices in action, supporting forest health and growth.
We also headed to Viti municipality, where a new collection point for wood biomass is being established with support from the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environment and Economic Development (SUNREED) project, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina (Sida) and implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue with more hands-on visits and discussions, exploring practical models for biomass production and utilization.
