Day 2 of the Sustainable Biomass Workshop in Kosovo
Today, CNVP Kosovo continues its two-day workshop dedicated to promoting wood biomass as a sustainable, renewable energy source for both the environment and rural communities. We're focusing on effective practices that improve forest health, reduce wildfire risks, lower CO2 emissions, and generate new income opportunities for rural areas.
On Day 2, we were excited to explore the project presentation on the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources for Environmental and Economic Development (SUNREED) and engage in discussions on strategies for market development through partnership agreements. Our day began with a visit to sustainable forestry practices at a Poplar Nursery in Istog and continued with a tour of a Poplar Plantation in Decan. We then concluded with a visit to the Biomass Heating Plant in Gjakova, where we observed cutting-edge technologies in renewable energy production. The day wrapped up with a stop at Fenix Company in Gjakova, where we learned about the process of biomass collection and the production of heating chips.
In conclusion, Day 2 provided insights into sustainable resource use, renewable energy, and economic growth through partnerships.
