CNVP Albania joined this week celebrations for two significant milestones in Albania’s forestry sector: the 65th anniversary of the Forest Faculty and the 102nd anniversary of the Forest Service. The event brought together institutions, experts, and stakeholders, including Forest Faculty of UBNational Forestry Agency, and the Association of Forest Specialists,, in a collective reflection on achievements and challenges within the sector.

For decades, CNVP Albania has been contributing to strengthen Albania’s forestry sector. Its commitment to sustainable management and development has left a tangible impact, with projects and practices that continue to set standards nationwide.

CNVP Albania’s contributions are rooted in innovation, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the sector’s complexities. Some of its most notable accomplishments include:

Securing Property and User Rights: CNVP facilitated property and usage rights for forests and pastures across 24 LGUs, covering 140,000 hectares. Through participatory mapping and planning, over 100 municipal staff have been trained to manage these areas more effectively.

Strengthening Legal Frameworks: By leading the participatory drafting of the new Forest Law and the Forest Policy Document—both approved by the Albanian government—CNVP has ensured that institutional frameworks are robust and forward-thinking.

Empowering Forest Users’ Associations: Supporting the establishment of 24 Forest Users’ Associations (FUAs), 10 Regional Federations, and a National Federation, CNVP has championed inclusive governance. Women now make up 40% of board members, and over 450 training sessions have been organized to strengthen organizational capacity.

Boosting Rural Economies: Recognizing the potential of Forest and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP), CNVP has developed value chains that directly benefit rural communities. Regional and national fairs have opened markets for local producers, significantly increasing incomes.

Driving Innovation in Forest Management: CNVP has introduced pilot models for multi-objective forest management, renewable energy solutions, and innovative biomass heating systems. Hundreds of permanent forest plots and fast-growing species have also been established.

These achievements underscore CNVP Albania’s unwavering dedication to improving forestry practices and supporting rural communities. As Albania continues to face environmental and economic challenges, CNVP’s collaborative work with institutions and partners remains a cornerstone for sustainable development.

The 65th anniversary of the Forest Faculty and the 102nd anniversary of the Forest Service serve as reminders of the sector’s rich legacy—and a call to action for its future.
