CNVP Albania, in collaboration with the National Forestry Agency and the Faculty of Forestry Sciences, conducted a three-day training for specialists and officials in the forest management sector from various municipalities in Albania. The training was attended by representatives from Malësi e Madhe, Shkodër, Vau i Dejës, Pukë, Fushë Arrëz, Kukës, Has, Tropojë, Dibër, and Bulqizë—municipalities that are part of the Drin River Basin.

The training, that took place in Kukës, is part of the project “Integrated Forest Management in the Drin River Basin”, aiming to strengthen sustainable forest management practices in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.

During the training, participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on forest ecosystem restoration through nature-based solutions, such as afforestation and reforestation. They will also learned about developing forest management plans, including both fieldwork and office-based planning, as well as fire prevention measures by analyzing strategies and practical manuals.

Field experts, including Prof. Elvin Toromani, Ing. Isuf Omuri, and Dr. Kliti Starja, lead the sessions, guiding participants in the practical application of the latest forest management methods.

As an essential opportunity for local experts, the training aimed to enhance their capacities and raise awareness of best practices in forest management, in alignment with the latest environmental sustainability policies.

This three-year regional initiative is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the Austrian NGO ICEP, supported by Lenzing, and implemented by CNVP Albania.
