The local forestry and environmental association “Malësia” from Deçan, together with the Municipality of Deçan and CNVP Foundation, came together on March 21st, to raise awareness about the importance of forests and biodiversity.
A highlight of the day was the creation of a biodiversity corner at the “Elfete Ramosaj” Youth Center, where high school students actively participated by planting native tree species, helping to enrich the environment and learn more about protecting nature.
The event also included a visit to forest areas being sustainably managed through a project funded by ADA and implemented by CNVP, focusing on the care and management of chestnut forests.
The biomass extracted will power an innovative heating system in the Hygiene Building, as part of the SUNREED project, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina. This initiative is a joint effort between CNVP and the Municipality of Deçan to promote renewable energy and environmental protection.
This event reinforces the importance of local collaboration in forest conservation and highlights the importance of educating younger generations on the care of our environment.
