In an effort to modernize Albania’s Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) sector, CNVP Albania’s LED project has been implementing transformative solutions to boost both economic stability and product quality. By combining contract farming agreements with cutting-edge drying technologies, the initiative is paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector.

For years, Albania’s MAPs farmers have faced unpredictable market conditions, leading to fluctuating prices and financial insecurity. To address this challenge, CNVP Albania has introduced contract farming, formalizing agreements between farmers and buyers, including exporters and consolidators. These contracts guarantee fair pricing and technical support in exchange for high-quality MAPs supply.

Since its launch, contract farming has expanded to hundreds of households across seven regions, offering:

  • Stable pricing, reducing dependence on volatile markets
  • Technical support, ensuring quality standards and yield efficiency
  • Access to improved seedlings and specialized training in sustainable farming method

In parallel with stabilizing the market, CNVP’s LED project has revolutionized post-harvest processing by introducing modern drying technologies that enhance product quality and boost farmer incomes.

The success of contract farming and drying technology innovations has strengthened market linkages and positioned Albania’s MAPs sector for long-term sustainability. As more farmers and businesses adopt these advancements, the sector is moving towards a more profitable and environmentally responsible future.

CNVP Albania remains committed to expanding these initiatives, ensuring that rural communities continue to thrive in a stable and growing market. This project is funded by The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
