For the past three years, CNVP Albania has been successfully implementing a small grants scheme that supports local NGOs and natural resource user groups. The program focuses on the ecological corridor of Çukal–Munellë–Balgjaj–Martanesh, covering the municipalities of Bulqiza, Klos, Mat, and Puka, areas rich in biodiversity and local potential.

This initiative helps local organizations develop and implement projects that protect nature, promote sustainable practices, and encourage the wise use of natural resources. Beyond funding, CNVP also supports awareness raising, capacity building, and community participation, all with the goal of building strong, local ownership of conservation efforts.

Through this scheme, CNVP is not only offering financial support, but also helping raise awareness and build the skills of local people. These activities encourage greater participation in protecting nature and help create better ways of managing natural resources at the local level. The goal is to help these communities test and develop new ways to protect nature, especially in important ecological corridors, areas where plants and animals move and live freely.

So far, more than 50 local environmental NGOs, small businesses and farmers have signed contracts under this scheme with CNVP Albania. This week, seven more local actors, have joined this initiative funded by Prespa Ohrid Natural Trust - PONT. Their projects are already making a difference, from improving conservation efforts to introducing sustainable practices that protect the environment while also supporting the needs of local communities.

This approach gives local people the tools and knowledge they need to take care of their natural surroundings. It also shows that real change often starts at the community level, when people work together to protect the places they call home.

This activity is funded by PONT and implemented by CNVP Albania.
