Promoting Sustainable Biomass Development in Kosovo
As part of our efforts to advance renewable energy and sustainable forest use, CNVP Kosovo hosted a workshop in Deçan under the theme Promotion and Development of the Wood Biomass Sector.
Participants included working groups from Kamenica, Shtime, Hani i Elezit, Decan, Peja, Junik, Kacanik, and others, along with the National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO), local Associations of Private Forest Owners (APFOs), and the public utility Higjijena.
The workshop highlighted progress in Kosovo’s wood biomass sector, shared best practices in wood chip energy use, and reviewed final steps in feasibility studies for Lipjan, Deçan, and Viti. Participants explored the Biomass Roadmap through real field examples.
A field visit included a poplar plantation in Isniq, forest treatment sites in Deçan’s chestnut forests, and the Higjiena facility, where a new wood chip heating system will be installed.
CNVP continues to promote renewable energy and collaboration among institutions, the private sector, and forest owners in Kosovo.
This initiative is part of the SUNREED project, implemented by CNVP Kosovo and financed by the Embassy of Sweden in Prishtina (Sida).
