LED Project Brings Renewable Energy to Rural Albania

The Swedish Ambassador to Albania, Mr. Niklas Ström, visited Vera Natural in Delvinë, where solar panels installed through CNVP Albania’s Local Economic Development (LED) Project are now powering the most of company’s operations.
Thanks to this investment Vera Natural, a local business processing Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs), now runs on clean energy, achieving less electricity bills while reducing its environmental footprint.
The visit highlighted how Sweden’s support through the LED Project is helping rural businesses in Albania become greener, more resilient, and energy-efficient. The Ambassador’s engagement reflects Sweden’s strong commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth and environmental protection in Albania.
Implemented by CNVP Albania and supported by the Government of Sweden, the LED Project aims to strengthen the MAPs sector by improving production quality, introducing modern technology, and supporting rural entrepreneurship. Over the past five years, the project has helped hundreds of local producers and processors gain access to drying facilities, mechanization tools, certified seedlings, and renewable energy systems.
The introduction of solar energy in MAPs processing companies like Vera Natural shows how innovation can reduce costs and increase competitiveness while protecting nature.
The LED Project continues to empower local communities and businesses across Albania, proving that sustainable development is possible and it’s already happening.
