CNVP Albania held a meeting yesterday with Lefter Gjana, Director of the Administration of Protected Areas (AdZM) - Kukës, to formally introduce the new “PULSE – Protecting Unique Landscapes and Species” project and explore avenues for structured cooperation in the management of protected areas in the region.

The meeting marked an important first step toward strengthening institutional collaboration in Kukës, a region known for its rich biodiversity and ecologically significant landscapes. Representatives of CNVP Foundation presented the project’s core objectives, which focus on safeguarding unique ecosystems, improving species protection and enhancing local capacities for sustainable natural resource management.

Discussions centered on aligning project interventions with existing management plans of protected areas and identifying concrete entry points for joint action. Director Gjana welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to support the project within the framework of AdZM Kukës.

Beyond conservation outcomes, the PULSE project also seeks to reinforce collaboration between institutions and local communities. Strengthening communication channels, improving on-the-ground coordination and ensuring that conservation measures translate into tangible local benefits were highlighted as shared priorities.

The meeting reaffirmed a common understanding: protecting unique landscapes and species requires structured partnership, coordinated action and long-term commitment. Through PULSE project, CNVP Albania and the Administration of Protected Areas in Kukës aim to translate this commitment into concrete results on the ground.

PULSE project is funded by Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust - PONT and implemented by CNVP Foundation in Albania and North Macedonia.
