Women Driving Change Through CNVP Projects
On International Women’s Day, CNVP Foundation highlights the important role women play in building resilient communities and sustainable landscapes across the Western Balkans. Through its regional projects, CNVP promotes women’s participation not only as beneficiaries, but as active contributors to environmental protection, rural livelihoods, and local development.
Under the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT) funded project, implemented in Albania and North Macedonia, women have been actively involved in community initiatives linked to nature conservation and sustainable livelihoods. In Albania alone, more than 1,000 women participated in project activities, representing around one third of all participants. In North Macedonia, the project reached over 1,000 women of different age groups through trainings, workshops, and local initiatives. Across both countries, women engaged in activities that connect environmental protection with opportunities for income generation, entrepreneurship, and stronger community engagement.
The Integrated Forest Management (IFM) project, implemented in Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Kosovo, has also placed strong emphasis on women’s inclusion. Women from across the region have participated in assessments, trainings, and workshops aimed at strengthening their role in sustainable forest management and local economic initiatives.
In Albania, this commitment to inclusion is also reflected in the LED project, where a gender action plan ensured that women were actively involved in the medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) value chain. By improving access to services, knowledge, and economic opportunities, the project helped reinforce women’s role within local markets.
In Kosovo, women are also taking leadership roles more directly. Eight Partnership Agreements supported by CNVP are currently being implemented by women, demonstrating strong engagement in advocacy, entrepreneurship, networking, and community-based initiatives.
Across these projects, CNVP continues to promote inclusive development by ensuring that women are not only beneficiaries, but active contributors to stronger communities and more sustainable landscapes.
On this International Women’s Day, CNVP Foundation recognizes and celebrates the women who are driving positive change every day through their work, leadership, and commitment across the region.
