CNVP Albania Leads Biodiversity Action with Local Schools
On 13 May 2026, more than 100 students from Novosej and Shishtavec schools took part in a biodiversity awareness and environmental action day at Kallabaku Lake in the Novosej area, within Korab–Koritnik Natural Park.
The activity was a joint initiative between the Regional Agency of Protected Areas (RAPA) Kukës and CNVP Albania, carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Kukës, local firefighters, teachers and NGOs as part of the PULSE – Protecting Unique Landscapes & Species project, funded by the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT).
At the entrance to the “Shtegu i Ngjyrave” trail, students participated in a clean-up activity while learning to separate waste into plastic, paper and organic materials. Through practical engagement in the field, they learned how everyday behavior affects biodiversity, ecosystem balance and the long-term health of protected areas.
RAPA specialists provided explanations on biodiversity protection inside the park, while firefighters highlighted fire risks and preventive behavior during the dry season. Teachers supported the learning process and both RAPA and CNVP teams, worked together to guide students throughout the activity.
This action contributes to ongoing efforts to strengthen youth awareness and local responsibility for environmental protection, linking schools, institutions and communities in the shared goal of conserving Korab–Koritnik’s natural values.
