This week, CNVP Kosovo brought together over 30 representatives of women's groups, youth groups, and Private Forest Owners' Associations from across Kosovo for a workshop focused on communication, advocacy, and reporting.
The workshop, organized within the SUNREED project and funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina (Sida), provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the work they are already doing in their communities and explore ways to make that work more visible and impactful.
Participants shared some of the common challenges they face when working with municipalities and other institutions, and discussed ways to encourage more women and young people to get involved in association activities. The conversation also focused on creating more opportunities for women and youth to take on active roles and have a stronger voice in decisions that affect their communities.
The workshop also focused on practical communication skills. Participants explored how to use social media more effectively, how to tell the story behind their activities, and how to present results in a way that is meaningful and easy to understand. Through group exercises, they developed sample Facebook posts, success stories, and communication messages that can help raise awareness of local initiatives and achievements.
Another key topic was advocacy. Participants worked together to identify priorities affecting private forest owners and rural communities and discussed how associations can engage more effectively with local authorities. They also drafted concrete advocacy messages and requests that can be used when communicating with municipalities and other institutions.
The final session focused on reporting and documentation. Participants exchanged ideas on how to collect and use information about their activities, including the participation of women and youth, to better demonstrate results, support advocacy efforts, and inform future planning.
The workshop showed that clear communication and strong local voices are important to make sure community needs and priorities are heard and taken into account in local development.
