As part of their commitment to the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in Prespa, the Rural Women of Prespa carried out an action on June 19 to plant new mountain tea seedlings in the village of Nakolets.

The activity aims to contribute to the protection and sustainable cultivation of this valuable indigenous plant, which represents an important part of the natural and cultural heritage of the Prespa region. The planting of new seedlings creates conditions for its further propagation, conservation, and economic valorization.

The association is dedicated to promoting mountain tea grown in Prespa and bringing it closer to consumers, enabling more people to recognize its quality, authentic taste, and numerous benefits.

“Each new seedling contributes to preserving Prespa’s natural wealth and creating opportunities for sustainable local development. We believe that mountain tea has the potential to become a recognizable product of the region and provide additional opportunities for the local population,” representatives of the association stated.

The project “Rural Women for Sustainable Development of Prespa” is funded by CNVP and the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT).

This activity is part of the #EUforPrespa programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in partnership with CNVP and the Municipality of Resen.

Through activities such as this, efforts are strengthened to protect biodiversity, promote the sustainable management of natural resources, and improve living conditions in the rural communities of the Prespa region.
