Yesterday, CNVP Kosovo/LVNN-Kosovo organised the workshop "Capacity Building for Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming in the Area of Climate Change and Integrated Forest Management (IFM)" in Prizren.

The workshop was held within the framework of the Integrated Forest Management (IFM) along the Transboundary Drin RIver Basin project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and ICEP - Association for Global Development, with the support of Lenzing AG, and implemented by CNVP Kosovo/LVNN-Kosovo.

The event aimed to strengthen the capacities of representatives from institutions, organisations, and local communities to integrate gender equality into Integraged Forest Management while promoting economic opportunities in rural and forest areas.

Workshop topics:

  • Gender Equality Principles and Land Property Rights – Focusing on national and international laws and conventions that protect women's rights, equal access to property, inheritance, and natural resources, as well as the important role of women in land and forest management.
  • Integrated Forest Management (IFM) and Forest Management Plans – Introducing the principles of sustainable forest management, the role of forest management plans, forest ecosystem restoration, community participation, and the contribution of IFM to climate change adaptation.
  • Marketing and Business Planning in Rural and Forest Areas – Highlighting opportunities for developing sustainable rural businesses, promoting forest products, agri-tourism and local products.

Through this workshop, CNVP Kosovo continues to support capacity building, empower local communities, and promote an inclusive approach where gender equality, sustainable forest management, and rural economic development work together to improve climate resilience and create long-term benefits for local communities.
