National workshop on methodology for Macedonia’s National Forest Inventory
CNVP Macedonia attended a workshop on 14 February 2018 in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy supported by the FAO-funded project Assessment of methodology for conducting of National Forest Inventory. The workshop focused on achieving a national consensus among key stakeholders concerning the process for collecting the necessary data, (particularly as Macedonia’s last forest inventory was held in 1979).
Today, the sustainable management of natural resources (including forests) requires up-to-date and reliable quality information. Whilst Macedonia has planning documents in forestry, it lacks accurate data on forest resources and the forest eco-system. Such data are critical for national planning and decision-making, as well as for fulfilling Macedonia’s commitments regarding the Paris agreement and the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.
CNVP is actively involved in developing forestry resources in Macedonia and the other five Balkan countries.
