CNVP organized and facilitated a workshop on 30 March 2018 on Achievements, challenges and planning for sustainable function of local and national associations. The event was attended by all Associations of Private Forest Owners (APFOs) in Kosovo. Their role in service provision to their members is a crucial mechanism for increasing membership, finding modalities for collecting membership and/or service fees, and strengthening the sustainability of all organizations.

Representatives of all 23 APFOs, including 9 women’s sections and the National Association of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO), presented their achievements and plans concerning service provision. During the workshop, the participants had an opportunity to learn from invited guests about how to improve their function and service provision for their members. Guests came from: the REC office in Kosovo, which discussed the Support for Sustainability of CSOs in the field of Environment in Kosovo (SpECIES) programme; and IADK, which made a presentation on the legal and tax obligations of NGOs. In addition, NAPFO made a presentation on the advocacy process for the forestry law, and addressed simplified procedures for the management of private forests.

The workshop will be followed by another event to identify the modalities for increasing women’s membership and improving their service provision.

The activity was supported through the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralised Forests that is being implemented by CNVP Kosovo.
