CNVP Albania and Librazhd Municipality organise a Honey Feast
On 22 September 2018, Librazhd Municipality collaborated with CNVP Albania and World Vision to organise a regional Honey Feast. 160 members of producer groups displayed their honey products, as well as medicinal herbs, nuts, wild berries, fruit, vegetables and handicrafts. The event was attended by almost 1,000 people.
The Mayor of Librazhd, the local Member of Parliament, and representatives from the ministries of Agriculture, Tourism and Environment were informed about CNVP Albania’s work to strengthen local farmers, promote local products, and enhance communication through the various value chains.
CNVP Albania’s Country Director encouraged all stakeholders - from farmers to consumers - to collaborate, produce, store, process and market their produce, in order to generate more incomes for rural families.
CNVP Albania connected some farmers from Librazhd with a shop in Tirana (Zahire) which sells traditional and local products from all over Albania. It agreed to prepare formal contracts for some products, especially chestnut honey. Zahire’s manager has been invited to attend all local regional fairs, in order to develop contracts with other farmers.
The activity was organised through the Sida-funded project Forests for Local Economic Development that is being implemented by CNVP Albania.
